Our Wedding Scrapbook!

Hi Family, Friends, and the Worldwide Web!

In our second blog post, I'd like to share with you a major Segal Adventure, our wedding! Well, more specifically, making our wedding album (which is a medium with which to share our wedding). I decided to make the wedding album myself instead of letting our photographer create an album out of his One-size-fits-all template. I could've made a digital album (it probably would've been easier), but I'm really glad I didn't. The scrapbook seems much more personal and gave me a lot of creative freedom that I wouldn't have had otherwise. And it has a cool 3D effect to it. It took me a little over a year from the wedding date, but I enjoyed every moment!

From this point on, I'm going to rant a little about a few technical details for fellow scrapbookers, so if you just wanna see the album, feel free to skip the text and scroll down to the pics.

So where to begin?
What got me started was a blog post entitled "A Non-Scrapbooker's Guide to Creating a Wedding Scrapbook." I wasn't able to follow the instructions exactly since alot of the supplies weren't available to me (In Israel the concept of a scrapbook doesn't exist), but two major things really helped me from this post:

(1) Buying the scrapbook album! I used Lauren's (the blog writer's) advise exactly and bought the Pioneer 12X12 Memory Book. I ordered it to my sister's house in the U.S., and my parents brought it back to me from a visit there. I love this album! Its elegant and comfortable and the box affect makes it look fancy :)

(2) Going for it! I was overwhelmed in the beginning by the task at hand, and Lauren's advise to choose pictures and create layouts for every page before anything else really got me started. This helped me to decide what pictures to develop and in what sizes, and helped me think what supplies I'd need.

Some tricks for making backgrounds:

About half way through making the scrapbook, I paid a visit to the U.S. and came back with two scrapbook background booklets from Luanne's that made alot of the pages easier (and they still look great!). Some other tricks I used were:

(1) Designing the page so that the boundary between 2 cut A4 pages would be hidden - I found pretty paper I really wanted to use
(2) Developing a photograph of a picture (either a real one or one from a google image search) and printing it in the size of a scrapbook page (30cmX30cm)
(3) Using decorative tape as a boundary
(4) Sand! I spread stick glue along the page, and poured sand over it until it stuck. To tape the seashells, I used double sided tape.

I found that double-sided tape could work for attaching about everything, and doesn't leak through some paper like other glues. I've actually been using it for all my taping needs since I got it. In fact, if I wasn't married already, I would probably marry double-sided tape, its that awesome.

One more resource I'd like to share before I let you see the pictures: In one of the pages I made white and gold flowers out of cloth. To make them, I used the help of flower shaped cut-outs that I found here.

Hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoyed making it!
